Seven photographs depict marionettes made by Russian avant-garde painter and stage designer, Alexandra Exter. They were created for an unrealized film by Peter Gad in Paris, 1926. Several marionettes represent stock characters from the Commedia dell'Arte. Puppets include Carabinier, Habit de rigueur, Danseur espagnol, Arlequin gris, Arlequin bleu, Gendarme americain and Longhi III. One photo shows a display of the marionettes which took place as part of an Exter exhibition at the Sturm Gallery in Berlin in October 1927. Another photo is a portrait of Exter in her garden. Two photos have the photographer's stamp of J. Littkemann of Berlin.
